What counts as an emergency
Water moving into a ceiling, a riser that will not close, sewage above floor level, or a heater dumping onto electrics. A dripping tap with a working valve can wait.
A burst fitting does not care that the building office opens at eight. The first job is to stop the water, then to find which joint actually failed.
Emergency calls in the UAE are usually one of four things: a split pipe on a roof, a failed flexible hose behind a washing machine, a stack backing up into a bathroom, or a pump that has run dry and is now pushing air and noise. The flat below often calls before the flat that owns the leak.
The plumber who arrives should be able to shut the local valve, and if that valve is seized, the floor valve or the tank outlet. Only after the flow stops do we open ceilings or chase a wet wall. Night work is for stopping damage. Decorative making-good is booked in daylight.

Close the valve under the leaking fixture. If you cannot find it, close the main on the roof tank or in the cabinet by the entrance. Move rugs and tell security we are coming if the tower requires a gate pass.
We mark the failed part, replace it if the material is on the van, and tell you if the ceiling needs drying rather than a new pipe. A second visit is named as a second visit.
Stop the feed at the nearest valve that still turns.
Follow the wet line uphill, not the stain, which is often a floor away.
Replace the split joint or hose, then restore pressure slowly.
Confirm the ceiling below is no longer dripping before we leave.
The method is shared. Water pressure, building age and the utility company are not. Open the emirate you live in for the local version of this service.
Towers on DEWA water, villa communities, and older Deira roofs.
Island towers, mainland villas, and Al Ain on the same ADDC network.
SEWA water, roof tanks, and a city of older flats plus new communities.
Compact city, Etihad Water and Electricity, mid-rise blocks and new Jurf.
A spread-out emirate: Julphar towers, Al Hamra villas, and hot inland plots.
East-coast humidity, villas, Dibba’s distance, and Etihad WE.
A small emirate: coastal houses, Falaj Al Mualla inland, Etihad WE.
It depends on the emirate and the hour. Coastal Dubai and Sharjah are usually quicker than Dibba or Falaj Al Mualla. We give a window on the phone instead of a slogan.
Only enough to stop the leak. Full chasing and repainting are not a 3 a.m. job.
Security or the neighbour must be able to open the door of the wet flat, or at least the riser cupboard. We cannot force a lock.
Often yes if the leak is on your branch, and often no if it is the shared stack. We show you the joint so you can send a photo to the building manager.
Ask on the phone. The visit fee and the repair are quoted as separate numbers so a small hose change is not priced like a ceiling opening.
